Each year we remember those club members we have ridden with that are no longer with us by riding a special hill climb event.
When we lost Malcolm in 2020 social distancing meant we couldn’t attend his funeral, so we decided to meet up on Walesby Hill, his favourite climb to pay our respects. It was a mark of Malcom’s standing in the club that over 20 members lined the whole length of the lower climb as he climbed it for the last time.
Malcolm was the heart and soul of club rides. His humour lit up rides as did his turn of pace! But he understood that a club was about more than riding and he often organised social events for us all to come together.
In 2021 the committee organised the first event to remember Malcolm and other club members.
The hill climb isn’t a race, it’s a test of your skill in pacing up and down Walesby Hill, the winner being the person who is closest to their predicted time! (no watches or cycle computers allowed.)
The event is organised each year so watch Facebook for more details!
